    Web-Enabled GIS Application for Asset Tracking

    Online tracking system for a large fleet of vehicles

    Background and Objectives

    The client is a leading fleet and logistics company and required an online tracking system for their large fleet of vehicles.

    Services rendered and Methodology

    This system consists of a web based GIS application that works in tandem with the databases and intelligent maps to track any given vehicle of a particular fleet fitted with GPS. The fully functional system developed by MCIPL integrates hardware (GPS, black box), software (Map Guide, the main GIS engine) and the communication medium. The system uses INMARSAT satellite data to get the GPS points.

    The system facilitates the following:

    • Online tracking of registered assets along with management and maintenance services User administration over the Internet
    • Generation of bills & reports
    • Two way messaging between asset and user
