Total Onsite Management Solution
A scalable web-based GIS on-site management solution for utility applications
Background and Objectives
As a proof of concept, Magnasoft developed a scalable web-based GIS on-site management solution for utility applications. The
client is a leading design engineering and digital content provider with more than 5 million users globally. The concept of
connectivity was fundamental to the proposed solution. The inherent connectivity logic enabled network tracing and identification
of plant items that were linked together by several sources in a graphical environment.
The solution provides facilities for fault tracking, customer care, planning and efficient management of a large distributive
network. More importantly it provides a framework for better integration and analysis of relevant facility information.
Key Aspects of the Projects
-
Back office module - This application enables the office staff to update requests and keep track of the status
of fault reporting using their desktop computers. All updates made by field staff are reflected in the Back Office database. This
application also facilitates location of network elements/entities on the desktop mapping system.
-
Field crew application - This is a PDA application primarily for field staff to query and update status of job
allotted to each crewmember. This also facilitates tracing of network elements associated with each parcel.
