Utilities - Electric & Gas Case Study

Electric Network and Utility Mapping

Electrical Network Topology Creation & Updation

Background and Objectives

Key objectives of this project were creating the Electrical Network Topology and correcting the errors of the given source DWG, establishing the link to the DBF file with the in-house developed tool.  Implement the placement rule as per the client specification.Perform validation and build relation as per the client requirement. Migration of Data from ACAD DWG and dbf files to ESRI Shape files. As per the specification in the data-loading document

The key objective of this project is to constantly update and load electrical, land-base and gas -network maps with attribute data onto client’s database in geodatabase format.

Key Aspects of the Project

  • Migration of data from mdb/Dbase to Autocad Object data with respect to  key field
  • Perform analysis of network data
  • Network clean up as per placement rule
  • Validating the network based on stated validation rules.

Services Rendered and Methodology

  • Land base Creation
    • Network Clean up
The process involved building and cleaning the electric network that are in un formatted status as per the geo database model.
    • Geo database loading
Data from the CAD linked to the Mdb or dbf is loaded to geodatabase.
    • Network features validation
All network features is validated to data consistency and the domain types by custom tools provided by the clients.
    • Solving network loop, connectivity and relational field errors.
    • Analysing the circuit and fixing the loop and connectivity errors.
    • Quality control initiative
At each stage of the project a stage QC check up is administered using in house developed tools and visual QC with respect to the source drawings.
