Background and Objectives

Magnasoft, as a subcontractor is involved in the digitization of the water supply network for Paris metropolitan area. Magnasoft's partner company is a leading Topography and Geomatics services company in France and the prime vendor of this project.

Services Rendered and Methodology

  • Organization of general road map data
  • The road map is divided into 3 different layers:
    • Base road map containing main roads and road number
    • Objects imported form road features database (BD Topo)
    • Scanned cadastral boundaries/property plates

  • Basic BD Topo Map (Topo database)
    • De-archiving or retrieval of objects from Topo database
    • Topological processing
    • Organization of data before integration

  • Basic Cadastre raster map
    • Scanning of raster plates
    • De-archiving/recovery of coordinates from grid-crosses on plates
    • Coordinate transformation into RGF 93 using CIRCE software
    • Embedding of plates using MicroStation with the module DCARTES using the coordinates calculated with CIRCEms)
  • Basic Road Map
    • Data entry of the elements of the road map using MicroStation
    • Development of customized tools for intelligent and controlled data entry
    • Customized interface for data entry of road centerlines, road literals, linking between road numbers and main roads and metadata information
    • Orientation of roadway numbers based on fixed placement rules
    • Digitalization of main roads on basic cadastre raster map with BD Topo as reference
    • Attribution of road code to main roads using the help of the road 'label' tool
    • The tool helps the user in verifying road codes, prevents re-use of road codes, choice of placing permitting compatibility with the automatic increase in size depending on the scale without superimposing the text on the roadway
    • Creation of intelligent road numbers whereby numbers may be labeled either by unitary allocation or all together after digitization; numbers once linked change colour and cannot be reselected
    • Attributes linked to a roadway number are stored in the form of a label that can be continuously verified using the label tool
  • Digitization of water supply network
    • Georeferencing of cadastral maps with network lines using the base road map vector data
    • Digitization of water network lines
    • Attribution of network lines and placement of cells
