The objective of the project was to develop a master plan for the effective management of water supply and sewerage distribution
for one of the biggest cosmopolitan Magnasoft was a subcontractor to an Australian GIS consultant on this project.
Key Aspects of the Project

Creation of base map: The creation of base map showing street level data with 1m contour interval using satellite imagery and
ground truthing

Creation of digital map of water and wastewater network:

Digitization of water network using base map as reference

Creation of DEM

Creation of DEM and overlay of results with existing data to obtain elevation information of water pipeline network

Development of a Decision Support System for water supply and wastewater treatment
Services Rendered and Methodology

Data conversion

Base map AutoCAD drawing files representing information pertaining to Divisional data (N/S/E/W), data from core areas of
Bangalore including Sheet Grid, drainage catchments and sewer zones were converted to Arc/Info format.

A Polyconic/ Everest grid coverage was built for the Sheet Index and transformed into UTM Zone 43/ WGS-84 datum. All drawings
were transformed to real world coordinates.

Combined Arc/Info coverages were created for each layer covering the entire area

Data output was in ESRI shape file format on CD-ROM

Survey of India Topographic Maps at scale units of 1:50000 were scanned and Geo-Referenced to UTM Zone 43/ WGS-84
datum with portability in Arc View software

Database design and development

Design of water network database and attribution of network elements such as valves, hydrants, etc. for resource inventory
and complaint tracking.
